What a Wonderful Christmas!

'

Merry Christmas!  Santa was goooood to Avery, that's for sure!  We had a lovely Christmas with lots of friends and family.  It started off the night before Christmas Eve with a surprise given to us by Sadie, the Christmas wonder-dog.  I came home from the grocery store with Avery to find the surprising aroma of coffee filling the house (I don't drink coffee)...After inspecting the downstairs, a flash of the Kauai specialty coffee I had bought for Chris and Avery's Grandpa Tommy entered my mind.  I ran upstairs to find a helter-skelter like scene of black coffee grinds EVERYWHERE (see above pic).  Wall to wall in the hallway and office.  Sadie looked at me with her pupils dialated and began running in frantic circles.  It was a Christmas miracle that she didn't have a heart attack.  The vet. assurred me over the phone that she would be fine (that is, if I didn't kill her), and she set our minds at ease only an hour later as she began puking up black puddles of coffee all over our cream colored carpet.  Fa la la la....la la la la!!!

We had the family over for Christmas Eve (after our carpet had been scrubbed thoroughly) including Ave's great grandparents from Illinois, which was fantastic to spend lots of time with them.  Ave ran off lots of energy on Christmas Eve at Gymboree as well (hurray Gymboree!).  Mimi and Grandpa Tommy came down from Cleveland as well, and everyone (Nana and Papa too) came over Christmas morning to watch Ave open gifts.  I was quite proud of her- if there's one thing I insist on, it's being an enthusiastic and appreciative gift receiver.  She took her time with each gift- looking at it carefully, even holding up clothing to show us how it would "look" on her.  She said thank yous and gave lots of hugs and smooches to everyone - so, so cute.  I could just eat her up!  She received some fab. Elmo toys from Santa, as well as a CD player for her room.  Mimi and Tommy brought her adorable luggage and some neat foam interlocking letters and numbers... Ave also received a tricycle and new "favorite baby doll" from Nana and Papa.  Those are just the highlights of course- she received so many lovely new things.  We are so fortunate and lucky!

Tis the Season...for being freaked out by Santa!

Oh...poor Avery...we subjected her to the utter terror of Santa Claus on Friday night!  She was a total flirt with him all the way in line- waving, smiling, telling us what she was going to ask for (baby doll and elmo toy), and then when the big moment came, she choked (not literally, but she seriously freaked out).  What is it about the big guy that sends children into hysterics?  Oh well...next year!  Our other pics are of Avery and Addy visiting Great Grandma at Chesterwood- they love their G.G.! :) Also, there's a picture of "Dodo," the elf who came to visit our house.  Avery named him, and she's obsessed.  Every morning he moves to a new spot after seeing Santa at night- she's awfully into the idea of being good so Dodo reports good things to Santa (thank you makers of Elf on the Shelf!...Genius!)
