Witty Avery

When our kids are little, I think we all try our best to preserve their cuteness for posterity through pictures, baby books, and maybe even blogs...From the time that Avery was born until she was around 2, I updated this blog about once a week (!)...desperately trying to chronicle every moment of her amazing little life. I've slowed considerably since that time, which I think is normal too...As our babies grow, the cracks of time in our days get filled up with gymnastics, cleaning up some sort of bodily fluid, coloring and painting, cleaning up some sort of spill, fixing nutritious and delicious food, cleaning food off of the floor and walls, etc., etc., etc.  There just doesn't seem to be time to record everything.

Today I realized just how many brilliant and hilarious things my daughter has said in just the past week. And I know that if I don't write these moments down, they'll just become part of the blur that days with an almost-three-year-old can become.  So here are a few funnies from my girl:

-We went to the bank a few days ago and the teller gave her a green sucker. I asked her what flavor it was, and she immediately replied :  "Green bean, Mommy."
-Later that day at nap time I asked Avery to close her eyes, and she said, "Mom, the problem is, when I close my eyes I can't see ANYTHING. And I want to see everything, Mom."
-Earlier in the week I told her we would go get ice cream if she finished her food, and she said, "The problem is (do you see a pattern with this?) too many choices. Do we go Menchies, or Bad Frog, or Gators (Graeters)? Too many choices!"
-We were talking about Grandpa Tommy and she said, "He's my favorite, who's your favorite Grandpa, Mommy?" And I said, "Well, Avery you can't forget about Papa, don't you love Papa too?" And she got so, so serious and looked me in the eye and said, "I sure do, Mommy, I sure do."
-Chris and I were trying to get Avery to go to sleep on her own (we are THOSE parents who lay on the floor until their child falls asleep), so we just kept going in her room to check on her. She was very upset, but not crying, and at one point Chris went in and she looked up at him and said, "This is terrible, Dad, just terrible."
